Kiro offers flexible pricing tiers designed around how developers use Kiro. New users can start with the perpetual Kiro Free tier, which includes 50 credits per month. The Free Tier includes access to open weight models and Claude Sonnet 4.5, with limits. You can upgrade to paid tiers ranging from Pro ($20/month), Pro+ ($40/month), Pro Max ($100/month), to Power ($200/month) for increased capacity. Paid tiers allow purchasing add-on credits to continue using Kiro beyond plan limits. Plans for teams (of 2 and more) are available for $20/seat/month and come with 500 included credits per seat with an option to purchase credits at $0.04 per add-on credit. Kiro prices shown do not include applicable taxes or duties (such as VAT or sales tax) unless explicitly noted. Note that if you have a Japanese billing address, Japanese Consumption Tax will apply to your Kiro usage. The amount of tax collected depends on many factors, including, but not limited to, your Tax Registration Number ("TRN" or Tax ID), and billing address. Kiro in GovCloud pricing is approximately 20% higher than commercial pricing and does not include the Free tier. Kiro processes paid subscriptions on the 1st day of each calendar month.

By default, your prompts are processed by Auto, an agent that uses a mix of different frontier models, combined with specialized models that are experts in specific tasks, intent detection, caching, and other techniques to give you a better balance of quality, latency, and costs. You can also choose a specific model, including OpenAI's GPT-5.6 (Sol, Terra, and Luna), Anthropic's Claude models (Opus 5, Opus 4.8, Sonnet 5, Sonnet 4.6, Sonnet 4.5, and Haiku 4.5), and open weight models such as DeepSeek 3.2, MiniMax M2.5, GLM-5, and Qwen3 Coder Next. The first time you upgrade from Kiro Free to Pro, the rest of that month is free, and you get 500 trial credits to use within 12 months. Plan fees and credits are prorated to the second, so you get plan credits for the time left in the month, and your first bill arrives on the 1st of the following month. Trial credits are used after you run out of plan credits. Upgrading to a paid subscription requires a valid credit card. For example, if you upgrade to Pro ($20/month) at 00:00 UTC on the 15th of a 30-day month, 16 days remain: your prorated fee is $10.67, which the free month covers, so you pay $0 and get 533 plan credits plus 500 trial credits. If you start on Pro+, Pro Max, or Power instead, the free Pro month still counts, and you pay only the difference between your plan's prorated price and the prorated Pro price (for example, $10.67 for Pro+ in the same scenario). If you go back to Kiro Free, your unused trial credits carry over, but you can only spend them on free-tier models. The free trial applies only to your first upgrade. If you upgrade again later, your fee and credits are prorated as usual, without a free month. If you upgraded before November 1, you keep the $20 discount and your unused credits.

A credit is a unit of work in response to user prompts. Simple prompts can consume less than 1 credit. More complex prompts, such as executing a spec task, typically cost more than 1 credit. Additionally, different models consume credits at different rates, with a prompt executed via Sonnet 4.6 costing more credits than executing it with Auto. For example, a given task that consumes X credits to execute in Auto, will cost you 1.3X credits to execute via Sonnet 4.6. Credits are metered to the second decimal point, so the least number of credits a task can consume is 0.01 credits.

Any prompt you ask Kiro to execute, whether in vibe mode or spec mode, as well as spec refinement, task execution, and agent hook execution, will consume credits.

You can see the monthly credit limits for your plan, the number of credits used, and credits remaining in your subscription dashboard accessible in Kiro. Credit usage is updated at least every 5 minutes. For credit pooling, credit usage can be tracked via admin dashboards.

[Workflows](/docs/workflows/) use the same Kiro credit model as other agent work. Credit usage depends on the agent work they run, so more complex workflows can use more credits. Yes — how it works depends on your plan: **When signing in with social login or AWS Builder ID (Pro, Pro+, Pro Max, Power):** Purchase add-on credits to continue working. Credits cost $0.04 each, are billed immediately when you buy a pack, and you control exactly how much extra capacity to add. Packs range from $5 (125 credits) to $100. Unused add-on credits roll over and expire 12 months from the date of purchase. See [Add-on credits](/docs/billing/add-on-credits/) for details. **Teams and Enterprise:** With credit pooling, admins can set thresholds at user or pool level, and purchase add-on credits for the pool at any point at $0.04 per credit. Credit pooling doesn’t use overages. Existing Enterprise customers on Pro, Pro+, Pro Max, or Power subscriptions can continue to use [overages](/docs/enterprise/subscription-management/#enable-overages-for-kiro-users).

For team and enterprise usage, the default pricing model now uses credit pooling. Admins can purchase seats and assign 2 or more seats to a credit pool. Kiro subscriptions can be used with Kiro IDE, Kiro CLI, Kiro Web, Kiro Crew, ACP compatible IDEs, and automation in software development (ex: reviews during CI/CD). Use through third-party automation harnesses (such as OpenClaw) that route requests outside of Kiro's native interfaces is not permitted.

For individual subscriptions, usage limits reset at the start of each billing month. Unused credits do not roll over to the next month. For credit pooling, unused included credits expire at the end of the monthly cycle. Any add-on credits that are added by the admin to the pool have a 12-month expiry after purchase.

Credit pooling is Kiro’s new pricing model for teams and enterprise customers that allows admins to share Kiro credits across teams. Admins purchase credit pooling seats at $20/seat/month and assign 2 or more seats to a credit pool that is shared by the assigned seats. For each seat assigned to a pool, 500 credits are added to the pool each month. Those credits are prioritized for use by any seat holder assigned to that pool. The admin can add more credits to the pool at $0.04 per credit and those add-on credits have 12-month expiry.

The $20 per seat per month fee is an access fee for a credit pool. Every seat assignment to a pool adds 500 included credits to the pool. These included credits are available for use each month that the seat exists. Unused included credits do not roll over month-to-month. Add-on credits purchased by admins at $0.04 per credit roll over month over month and can be used for 12 months.

Credit pooling pricing is for teams and enterprise customers only. It allows admins to set up Kiro credit pools sharable across seats that admins can assign to team members in a group. There are no individual subscription tiers in the credit pooling pricing model. For individual developers who would like to purchase Kiro subscriptions, the existing tiered pricing of Free, Pro, Pro+, Pro Max, and Power remain available.

Developers consume credits at different rates. With pooling, heavy users can draw on credits that lighter users don’t need, reducing waste and unnecessary add-on purchases. Teams get more flexibility to accommodate changing usage patterns without having to manage individual credit allowances. Kiro credit pooling enables cost-efficient use of credits across teams.

Administrators can organize users into groups, assign them to credit pools, and set usage limits for individuals, groups, and profiles. They maintain visibility on user credit, pool credit, and seat utilization via dashboards and get alerts when utilization levels reach 80% and 100% so that they can purchase add-on credits for the pool. Administrators can manage Kiro credit usage with clear policies, real-time enforcement, and automated guardrails. Also, they can choose to create groups for power users and set high credit usage limits for those groups to meet power usage. Light and regular users of Kiro credits can continue to access Kiro independently at lower group-level or individual-level limits without being affected by power users’ credit consumption.

Kiro Web uses the existing credit model. Credits are consumed regardless of which interface the work runs on (IDE, CLI, or web). No separate charge for cloud compute. Available to Kiro Pro, Pro+, Pro Max, and Power users.

No, there is no additional charge for using Kiro powers. All Kiro users can access and use Kiro powers.

Yes, Kiro pricing in [AWS GovCloud](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/govcloud-us/latest/UserGuide/govcloud-kiro.html) (US) Regions is approximately 20% higher than standard commercial region pricing. All Kiro subscription tiers (Pro, Pro+, Pro Max, and Power) are subject to this regional pricing adjustment when accessed through AWS GovCloud (US) Regions.

No. The free tier is not available in Kiro Enterprise or AWS GovCloud (US) Regions. Both require a paid plan and enterprise authentication via AWS IAM Identity Center or an external identity provider. New Kiro Enterprise customers purchase credit pooling seats. Existing Enterprise customers can stay on their Pro, Pro+, Pro Max, or Power subscriptions or opt in to credit pooling when they are ready.
