Agent Templates

Agent Templates are prebuilt configurations that give you a starting point for a specific workflow. Instead of building an agent from scratch, pick a template and customize from there.

From the dashboard, open Agent Capabilities → Agent Templates. Browse the available templates, preview their configuration, and create a new agent from one.

Each template defines:

• Model — which LLM to use
• System prompt — instructions that shape behavior
• Tools — which MCP tools and built-in tools the agent can call
• Skills — domain knowledge loaded into the agent

• Template — you want a pre-configured agent for a common task (code review, research, writing). Start from a template, tweak as needed.
• Custom agent — you need full control over the prompt, tools, and behavior from the ground up.

Templates are a starting point, not a limit. Once you create an agent from a template, you can edit any part of it.

Crew ships with templates for common workflows. The exact set depends on your version — check the Agent Templates panel for what's available.

A template is just a saved agent configuration. Create an agent, tune it for your workflow, then save it as a template so you can reuse it or share it with your team.
