Add credits

If your credit pool is running low, or the usage dashboard projects that credits will run out before the billing cycle ends, buy additional credits. Additional credits are a one-time purchase added to the shared pool, and they are good for one year from the purchase date. In the Kiro console, you buy them from the Credit sharing page.

Before you begin

Your role needs permission to buy and review credit purchases. The full Kiro administrator policy includes those actions and other Kiro administration permissions.

How additional credits work

  • Monthly credits come from your seats. Kiro uses them first, and unused monthly credits expire at the end of the billing cycle.
  • Additional credits are added to the shared pool on top of monthly credits. After monthly credits run out, Kiro uses the additional credits with the earliest expiration date first.
  • Additional credits are available for 12 months from purchase.
  • Credit pooling must be enabled before you can buy credits.

Buy more credits

  1. Open Access management > Credit sharing. In the overview, choose Buy more credits. You can also open the Credits tab and choose Buy more credits there.
  2. In How many credits you'd like to buy?, enter the number of credits.
  3. Choose Next. The cost summary shows the total and the per-credit rate. This amount will be charged to AWS account billing.
  4. Choose Confirm.

Check your purchase

Your new credits may take a moment to appear. While the purchase completes, it shows as Processing under Additional credits on the Credits tab, and the credits are added to the shared pool when processing completes.

Track expiration

On the Credits tab, each purchase under Additional credits shows a Use by date, and the tab shows how many credits are expiring this month. Choose View credit purchase details to see the Use by date, Cost, and One-time purchase type of each purchase.
