Dockable chat

Overview

Give your conversations the space they deserve. Open any chat session as a full editor tab, the same width as your source files, splittable, dockable, and arrangeable however you want. Great for reviewing long code generations side-by-side with the actual files.

How to use

  1. Right-click a chat tab in the session tab bar.
  2. Select Open in Editor.

The session opens as a standard editor tab that supports all the layout features you're used to:

  • Drag to rearrange or move to a different editor group
  • Split horizontally or vertically alongside source files
  • Multiple chat tabs open simultaneously

When to use it

  • Reviewing a long code generation with full-width display
  • Referencing the chat and source code side-by-side in a split editor
  • Working in a multi-monitor setup with chat in a separate editor group
  • The side panel feels too narrow for the current conversation

How it relates to the chat panel

The editor tab and the side panel show the same session. Messages sent from either location reach the agent. If you close the editor tab, the session continues in the panel. Nothing is lost. The chat panel remains your home for session management (creating, listing, and switching between sessions).

Switching to Agent Focus Mode

Use the Agent Focus button in the top-right corner of the IDE to move the session into Agent Focus Mode. This gives you a full chat-first layout with multiple parallel sessions. Click the button again to return to Editor View.
